Printable Easter Scavenger Hunt: Fun Activity for Kids!

Imagine it's Easter Day!

You've gone to church, visited the Easter Bunny, had the egg hunt, opened up all the plastic eggs to find your treats inside... and now you've got a bunch of kids starting at you wondering what's next on this exciting day???

Now it's time for an Easter Scavenger Hunt!

If you've never held one of these before, you're in for a treat. Both older kids and younger kids typically enjoy this activity as something a little different from your normal Easter morning events.

How to Host an Easter Scavenger Hunt

Here are step by step instructions that you can easily host an Easter scavenger hunt this year.

Here's how an Easter Scavenger Hunt works:

  1. Download your Easter Scavenger Hunt Printable.

  2. Print out as many copies as you have kids participating.

  3. Decide on your location for the scavenger hunt (inside, outside, at church, classroom, etc.)

  4. Double-check that you have all of the items on the scavenger printable available for kids to find. (The items on our hunt are typically easy to locate items, however, if you don't have some you could either buy them - dollar stores work great - or you could print and cut out a picture of the item and hide it instead.)

*** Also, if you don't want to go to this much set-up work, you don't have to! Depending on the age group participating in your scavenger hunt, the items to find could be in different locations, and if you have older children, you can leave it up to the participants to figure out how to find them all! There are many different ways to host this type of scavenger hunt.

5. Hand out the printable scavenger hunt checklist and let the fun begin! At the end of the hunt, maybe you decide to have fun prizes and Easter treats for the person who finds the items most quickly or finds the most items on the list.

This scavenger hunt is designed to be a fun way to spend your Easter Sunday with kids of all ages. It can also be a great way to get the whole family together to participate in a new Easter activity. I've got a feeling you'll have so much fun that you decide to make it a yearly tradition!

Other Family Fun Easter Activities

If you enjoy this type of family fun, here are a few other Easter activity ideas for a good time with friends or family on Easter day:

  1. Read Easter-Themed Books

There are many classic and contemporary books that capture the joy and wonder of Easter, from tales of the Easter Bunny to stories of faith and renewal. Some popular titles include "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" by Beatrix Potter, "The Easter Egg" by Jan Brett, and "The Berenstain Bears and the Easter Story" by Mike Berenstain. Reading these books with your children can help them learn about the history and traditions of Easter, as well as the values of love, kindness, and forgiveness.

2. Have Easter-Themed Play-Doh or Lego Challenges

You can set up a variety of challenges, such as creating Easter baskets, designing Easter eggs, or building a scene from the Easter story. You can also use different colors and shapes to make it more festive and exciting. This activity encourages children to use their imaginations, problem-solving skills, and fine motor abilities. It's also a great opportunity for parents to bond with their children and showcase their own creativity.

3. Decorate Easter Eggs

You can use a variety of materials to create unique designs, such as paint, markers, stickers, and glitter. You can also try different techniques, like dyeing the eggs with natural ingredients like onion skins or cabbage leaves. To make it more fun, you can even have an egg-decorating contest and award prizes to the most creative designs.

4. Make Toilet-Paper Roll Bunnies

This craft is easy and requires minimal supplies, making it perfect for children of all ages. To create the bunnies, you can use empty toilet paper rolls and decorate them with markers, paint, and paper. You can add bunny ears, whiskers, and a cotton ball tail to bring the bunnies to life. This activity is not only fun but also promotes recycling and sustainability, as it gives a second life to a household item that would otherwise go to waste.

5. Play Easter Bingo

This game is similar to traditional bingo, but with an Easter twist. Instead of the usual numbered balls, Easter bingo uses cards with Easter-related images such as Easter eggs, bunnies, chicks, and flowers. Players mark off the corresponding images on their cards as they are called out, and the first person to complete a row or a pattern yells "Bingo!" to win a prize.

6. Do the Bunny Hop

This dance is performed by hopping around in a circle while holding hands with others in a line or a circle. The bunny hop is usually accompanied by a catchy tune that is easy to follow, making it a fun activity for kids and adults alike. This playful dance is a great way to get everyone moving and laughing, making it a perfect addition to any Easter celebration.

7. Have an Easter Egg Hunt

You can hide plastic eggs filled with small toys or candy around your house or backyard, and then let the kids search for them. You can also make the hunt more challenging by setting clues or riddles that lead to the next egg. To make it more exciting, you can have a special prize for the child who finds the most eggs or the golden egg.

We hope you enjoy this Printable Easter Scavenger Hunt, and that it inspires you to explore some fun alternatives (or additions) to the traditional Easter Egg Hunt. Create a new tradition, and put a fun spin on your Easter time with family this year!
